2021.10.21 01:26 EcstaticAd9492 Do you regret telling your parents?
does anyone regret telling your parents your were raped? i told my dad & he’s basically telling me he raised me to be smart, and he’s trying to force me to tell him who did it & details. I’m not comfortable with telling him any of this, & i feel like i don’t have to.. it’s my story. he’s also making me feel bad about not going to the police about it & telling me that i’m letting him get away with it & just making me feel really dumb.. he has every right to be upset, but he’s being more judgmental, dismissive, than he is being supportive. what are your thoughts? really stressed.

2021.10.21 01:26 farnsworthianmold Crypto is technocratic arrogance to a dystopian degree
I’m in my early 30s. When I was younger, it was always clear that “technology” was the future, yet “tech nerds” seemed to occupy a really niche space in society. We had PCs and DSL (lol) and midi ringtones when I was in high school, but smartphones weren’t really a thing. Uber wasn’t even around when I was in college.
Despite the merits of recent technological innovation (calling/hailing a cab in a suburban town as a drunk 19 year old was a pain in the ass, and I thank Uber despite its institutional flaws), I don’t think simply possessing coding knowledge gives technocrats the ability to play God. But judging from their bizarre techno-libertarian talking points, you’d think that simply being able to code a food delivery app makes someone an expert in financial markets, the law (don’t get me started on “smart contracts”) and society in general.
As much as people think the NYT Op-Ed version of Paul Krugman is cringe, he has a point. Crypto is a solution looking for a problem. What’s sad is that we conflate marketable skills with universal knowledge. It’s why people think Elon Musk is “cool” for inconveniencing a niche network of cave rescue diving experts with his impractical and lofty submarine blueprints.
I don’t blame the every day yokel falling for techno -libertarian mysticism. They’re the “occupy Wallstreet” dolts who like getting fucked by populist personality cults.
What I absolutely can’t stand is the institutional hesitation to call this shit out for what it is. I think it may have been Australia, but I read an interesting regulatory statement from some common wealth country basically calling out journalists for their irresponsible endorsement of the crypto space. But that’s exactly the problem. Some of the biggest financial institutions and journalistic outlets don’t want to be perceived as Luddites speaking against the crypto libertarian wet dream, so they perpetuate the narrative. The incidental “tech-y” aspect of crypto is the hecklers veto that saves the community from outright being called a Ponzi scheme. “Blah blah blockchain something” is the politically correct journalistic standard 9/10., and it’s fucked. Liz Warren (I don’t think people realize how hard it is for her to speak out against certain populist trends) and Paul Krugman and other dissenting voices are the only people who give me faith in humanity. I whole heartedly believe in free speech, and journalists can write what they want. That doesn’t mean I think the market place of ideas is efficient. Half the country thinks the election was stolen and that Trump is the second coming of Christ. Time passed is not always progress. We’re mostly still our dark age ancestors, gullible to fallacies and mysticism. Just replace lucky horseshoes with #hodl.

So I used disinfectant wipes to wipe down the bathroom sink handles. I just let it air dry. But my friend said letting it air dry will leave a residue. So does that mean that the residue could get on my fingers every single time I turn the sink handle? So when I turn the sink handle to wash my face, could the residue transfer to my fingers and then could potentially get into my eye as I’m washing my face?

By having the winning tribe pick a member of the losing tribe to go, they almost guarantee the winning visitor will get a free reward because the loser will keep their vote as they are going to tribal. They should have one person each from the first and second place tribes so both players are incenticized to go for the advantage and might burn each other so they can breed resentment.

2021.10.21 01:26 CaskMA Are there any modern players who you think could have had a strong NBA career but didn’t make the league until later in their career?
Guys like Facu, who’s been a pretty decent nba guard (tmk) despite being undersized and 30 years old.
I don’t think there are any modern comparisons to Arvydas Sabonis’ situation, where a probably all-star caliber player doesn’t make the league until after his prime.
But I think there’s gotta be some guys who would’ve been solid role players that missed out

2021.10.21 01:26 secondacctlmao The state of Hot Wheels Unleashed and it’s DLC rollout…
My opinions on this game have changed drastically in the past day or so. I originally praised milestone and Mattel for giving us the best hot wheels game in a VERY long time, featuring great gameplay, and a decent roster of cars, all without loot crate microtransactions too. However, the campaign has zero substance, online play is lacking and full of issues, there’s features missing from the track builder, and progression beyond the base campaign is nonexistent, unless you like grinding for coins. Not to mention the countless glitches, crashes and issues that players are experiencing. Regardless, the game felt like it was worth the $50 price tag. It felt like a real, legitimate arcade racer, unlike the awful money-grabs we’ve seen released in the past, appealing to kids and enthusiasts alike for a quick buck.
That was until the announcements over these past few days.
It’s become incredibly clear that DLC will be the big moneymaker for Milestone/Mattel here. We knew from the start that the game would feature season passes full of expansion packs and shiny new cars. We knew we were only getting a piece of the pie when we bought the base game, but we didn’t realize how small that piece was.
Less than a month into the games life cycle, and vol. 1 of the hot wheels pass is in full swing. 4 new cars, a track builder module and a customization pack has been unlocked. Before 2022, we’ll have a grand total of 10 new cars, 3 modules, 3 customization packs and an entire expansion pack. Considering the base game was a bit lacking, it feels like a slap in the face for Milestone/Mattel to have this much paid content prepared to release almost immediately after the base game itself. Keep in mind, this is just vol. 1 of three total confirmed passes, going as far as June 2022. These passes are $30 each, totalling $90 worth of DLC passes before the game even reaches it’s first birthday…
It’s also been announced that starting in mid-November, Unleashed will begin it’s first racing season, a two-month event where players will be given a chance to win exclusive items. Sounds great, but here’s the catch: it costs money to participate in the racing season. Even worse, the racing seasons are not included in the hot wheels passes, meaning even pass holders will have to pay to play. If assuming these events run every two months, and cost $10 to participate, that’s four racing seasons totalling $40 by July 2022, once again, falling months short of the game’s first anniversary.
Based on the info we’ve been given so far, it looks like we’ll be expected to fork out over $130 for the full Hot Wheels experience, over $180 including the base game. Even those who purchased the ultimate stunt edition are looking at a price tag of $160 for everything up to June 2022. That’s a lot of money for game that’s not only aimed at children, but hasn’t even been around for a year yet.
Another slap in the face for pass holders is the addition of single items. Now appearing on the unleashed website is a section of the store where players can purchase single cars, modules, customization packs and expansion packs without a pass. This means that rather than having to purchase the $30 pass just for that car you really wanted, you’ll now be able to buy it for what I can assume will be around $2. This would’ve been great if it was introduced much sooner. Very convenient that the option to purchase single items was included AFTER the start of vol. 1, and AFTER the release of the $90 ultimate stunt edition and it’s two included passes, meaning most players who would’ve availed of this option have already forked over their money. It’s simply too late.
Comparing the DLC rollout of unleashed to that of my favourite racing series, forza horizon, it’s absolutely pitiful. Forza horizon 4 players can have almost all of the game’s DLC, that’s 42 cars, a VIP membership, treasure map and two expansion packs, for just $40 with the ultimate bundle. The ultimate edition, which includes ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING, aside from one $5 car pack, cost $100. Not to mention FH4 seasons are free to play, and multiple new events, stories, game modes, features and cars have been added for FREE since release. This means that FH4 + DLC, a game that includes over 700 cars (~650 of which are free), a coherent campaign, multiple story missions, free seasons and overall far more content than unleashed will ever have, costs $60 LESS than unleashed and all of it’s DLC. On a side note, single items were available to forza players from day 1. No paying for unwanted content…
The absolute state of this game and it’s DLC rollout right now is atrocious. I won’t be paying to play the racing season, and I won’t be buying the vol. 2 and 3 passes…
