2022.01.18 23:14 Otherwise_Chance_407 Looking for advice after being offered equity in a business. Is it a good move? What to look out for?
I’m hoping this is the right group as I am seeking advice particularly from one who understands equity in businesses and exit strategies.
I’m a British national living in Australia. A company I worked for (9 years ago) has offered me a job to come back to UK for. The offer has a competitive salary however the possibly bigger opportunity is that they have offered me equity in the company.
The company is about 10 years old with approximately $2m turnover, and the two sole owners are looking to bring on 2-4 ‘next generation’ employees to build the business by 25% before they exit via a trade sale or management buy out. The owners will be diluting and making 20% of the business available to the new employees. Those with equity will sit on the management board.
I know there is a lot of unknowns but any advice would be appreciated. Questions that come to mind are; What should I look out for, what questions should I be asking, how do I know if this is a great opportunity to move countries for? When the sale happens, what then - do my shares get bought by an investor and I take the cash or can I stay on and keep the shares?

2022.01.18 23:14 CamiPatri My cat defended itself against me?
I’m new to cat ownership. I have a three month old kitty who I can tell loves me very much. My four year old dog doesn’t quite understand how to play nicely, so I keep the kitty in the crate when I’m gone and the dog loose. I’m sensing that my cat really hates being in the crate, because I’ll let her out to do her thing but when I put her back in she will get really angry. I only do it when the dog is getting too rowdy. I’m afraid she’s losing her trust in me. This time she really lost it when I put her back in. She hissed like crazy, showed her teeth, her tail was static. I want my kitty to know that I was protecting her. Any advice? I just got her new toys for her crate.

Title hints at my hope that with Microsoft buying up all traditional devs and publishers Sony will double down on VR and put their AAA studios with high budgets on it. After having so much fun with PSVR already and always thinking „what if?“ a man can only dream.

2022.01.18 23:14 ArianaVentiButera I gave an online friend my full real name and I'm feeling stressed. What do I do?
I have an online friend who I love very much. We've known each other for months and we talk pretty much everyday. The thing is, I knew some stuff about them that they wouldn't want me to know.
For context, one of their social media accounts has their first and last name. It's not specifically their USERNAME, but the link they sent me for their account has their real name somewhere on the page that I found. They gave me this social media account, but I don't think they thought that I was going to see the name. Anyways, I found another one of their social media accounts by searching up their name. I kind of told them this, which they weren't happy about at all, which is sensible.
I never told them any personal details about myself, like my name. I don't have my real name anywhere online on my accounts, because I don't feel comfortable having it out there. I was honestly joking around with them because they have their real name as one of their social media usernames, so I didn't know that they would be uncomfortable with me searching them up.
Well, this person asked me for my name. I was very hesitant to give it out of course, but I remembered that I was being creepy by searching up this person, so I wanted to give it to them so they could trust me because I trusted them too. They were just asking for my first name, but for some reason I felt so bad about searching them up, that I decided to give them my FULL GOVERNMENT NAME just so they could trust me. It is also a pretty unique and rare name too.
The reason why I feel uncomfortable is that when you search up my full name, my full address appears online. And it's fucking stressing me out. I NEVER put it out there myself, so I don't know why it's available for people to see. And I just don't feel comfortable with the idea of ANY ONLINE FRIEND knowing my address AND name.
The thing is, I trust this person, but at the same time, they are still an online friend. We have not met each other in real life. They said they won't search up anything about me like I did to them, but how am I supposed to know that they won't do it? It's like, on one hand, I think they're a good person and they're not gonna do anything to me or anything, but on the other hand, they're still someone I do not know in real life, and they could just be pretending to be trustworthy. But at the same time, I did this to myself by being creepy and searching them up.
A few times before, we've talked about meeting each other in real life and I honestly trust them enough and love them enough that I want to do this in real life. If I could just reverse time, I wouldn't have searched them up, and I would've just told them my name WHEN I MET THEM IN REAL LIFE. I wanted to slowly give them my trust, not give them all my personal details before I even met them I trust them enough to be myself around him and tell stories about myself, but I don't completely trust ANY online friend with my full real name.
Well at this point, I can't really do anything about it, because they know my full name, and they could easily find my address if they wanted to. How can I stop feeling stressed about them knowing my full name?
And I feel so bad about making this post, because my friend follows me and thinks I hate them. I'm feeling a huge range of emotions and I need to talk to someone about this. Someone please understand.

2022.01.18 23:14 CaptainA1917 What Would Stoner Do…At Night?
I decided to apply some WWSD thinking to NV-capable rifles. Having read/looked at a lot of NV threads on AR15.com, one thing is pretty obvious: weight and cost are typically not serious concerns when building a NV rifle. You can easily spend $5,000 on a high-end NV rig, not including the rifle itself. Such rigs usually include tapeswitches/buttons which add yet more cost, weight, and failure points to the rifle. I built a fairly typical NV rig (at the low end of the budget scale) on my LMT rifle, with DBAL-I2, Surefire Vampire, Aimpoint Pro, and the various mounts to make everything work together, which is a huge PITA in itself. That resulted in a 10+ pound rifle, quite typical for a NV rifle.
After getting into the WWSD videos and picking up some KP15 lowers, I started rethinking the NV rifle on the basis of weight and cost. Lost the backup irons, got an Aimpoint T2, replaced the DBAL with a TOR-MINI. I also wanted to at least attempt to replicate the ease of use of the high-end dual tapeswitch setups by keeping the light tailcap and TOR pad as close to each other as possible. I also wanted to consider the sling setup. I tried various mounts which didnt work well - they either hit the TOR or placed the tailcap low enough that you kind of had to shift grip to go from light to laser.
By accident I ran across this product: a combo sling/light mount.
I personally prefer a forward sling on a 16” rifle (YMMV) and this was exactly what I wanted. Better yet, the light placement (NOTE: ON THE LMT CQB RAIL! YMMV) was perfect for me, with about 1/4” thumb shift from light to laser, and without needing to change grip slightly. The mount also has a rotation-limited steel QD cup, so it should never wear out.
If you’re looking into a NV rig you might consider whether something like this works for you. The NV component cost was $250 for TOR, $300 for Vampire, and $80 for the Shaffer mount. Total $630 for quality components and 95% of the capability of $5000 rigs, while also saving about 1-1.5 pounds off the rifle.
Here’s a few pics showing the rifle as a whole and some details on the front end.

2022.01.18 23:14 BMOisAbsoluteGarbage Career Transition to Thunder Bay
This is a bit of a Hail Mary. But I work in the insurance industry in Toronto and do not want to return to the GTA once we return to the offices after Covid. I've never been to Thunder Bay but have always been drawn to it for various reasons including that I love hunting , fishing and the outdoors. So with you knowing the local labour market better than I would; what jobs & industries would be good to look into, for someone with a business degree and several years experience doing analytical office work in insurance? Another motive for me is to do more "real" work that involves actual production instead of dealing with conceptual financial products behind a desk every day. So, any ideas? Did any of you come from a similar position as I'm in?
